Hi I'm Louisa Blackmore and welcome to the West Egg blog.

About this Blog

I love to share my ideas, inspiration and tips on all things related to interiors, antiques and design to help inspire others with decorating, restoration and interior styling at home.

When I originally started this blog in October 2010 I had no idea how much it would grow and become such an important part of the business and my life.

I really enjoy being part of the amazing blogging community and love to connect with people via email, the comments section, twitter and facebook so do get in touch and say hi.

I usually post a few times a week but I don't stick to a schedule so be sure to subscribe to receive the latest blog posts direct to your inbox. I cover antiques and vintage fairs, trade events, shows and antiques hot-spots, behind the scenes at West Egg, interior design style tips and ideas, inspiration, practical restoration tips and advice, discounts and special offers for readers.

About Me

I re-trained in furniture restoration after 7 years working in the corporate world as a legal assistant. This big career change was the result of a light-bulb moment which you can read more about here. After many months preparation and research, I launched West Egg in March 2010.

Since then I have been sourcing and restoring some lovely pieces of furniture and home accessories for the store. I teach workshops in London and in Bedfordshire on furniture painting, decorative effects and practical how-to projects.

About West Egg

West Egg is an online homewares store that sells unique restored antique and vintage furniture and decorative home accessories. We stock exclusively designed and hand-finished cushions, doorstops and memo boards by Lucinda Nicol.

I personally source the pieces for West Egg and look for those that encompass simplicity, quality and most importantly, charm. My English roots mean I love to source local pieces so the company retains a sense of heritage and unique British quirkiness but I also search out vintage French pieces and decorative Chinese ceramics which give an eclectic feel to the West Egg collection.

West Egg has recently moved into a converted barn in Bedfordshire where we'll host workshops and events and have a store that our wonderful customers can visit.

If you'd like to visit the online store you can click here.

I love to hear from readers of the West Egg blog so if you'd like to get in touch please email me at louisa[@]westegg.co.uk.

Thanks so much for reading.
